There is a wide array of options to help you customize your microSYSTEM® building. From a choice of exterior colors, porch styles and light fixtures to a variety of interior built-ins, the microSYSTEM® line of architectural products puts you in the designer's seat. We invite you to Build Your Own.
The microSYSTEM® line of architectural products utilizes many green concepts and practices. Its efficient design reduces overall material usage as well as energy and labor needed for fabrication. Its size also reduces the natural impact on a given piece of property. Recycled and sustainable materials, along with energy-efficient fixtures, are also utilized throughout the design. Low-energy lighting, composting toilets, cement-fiber siding, Low-E insulated windows, plastic-composite trim, and bamboo flooring are just a sample of what you will find within your microSYSTEM® building.
Due to its overall size the microHOME® was not designed to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines.
Yes, you can. We have a demonstration model on display at our production facility in southern Illinois. Tours are by appointment only so please email us at microsystemtours@m-finity.com if you are interested.
Yes, they do. Each microSYSTEM® building that you order is backed by our one-year warranty on construction, in addition to the various manufacturers' warranty on fixtures and appliances. Please read the complete warranty attached to the summarized order form before placing your order.
Each microSYSTEM® building is custom fabricated to your specifications. We begin each one with a welded-steel floor fame upon which the wood-framed walls and roof are secured. The walls are stiffened by our unique ‘double-sheathed' system consisting of sheathing panels screwed to both the exterior and interior face of the walls providing superior strength. On top, our seamless rubber-membrane roofing system, though appearing flat, slopes to the gutter system at the rear of the building. The interiors are lined with bamboo flooring and finished wall and ceiling panels, with the exception of the microSHED® which comes standard with plywood floor and wall surfaces. There is also an array of high-quality options, including electrical, plumbing and cabinetry selections, for you to choose from. As you will discover, top-to-bottom and inside-to-out, the microSYSTEM® line of architectural products is a model of design quality and structural integrity.
Due to its basic size of less than 100 square feet, a microSYSTEM® building generally falls outside the jurisdiction of local housing authorities, though some might require an overall plan showing the building's placement on your site insuring it is within proper setback limits. As local building codes vary, we recommend consulting your local officials prior to ordering. If a building permit is required the microSYSTEM® Customized Information Packet will assist in this effort with drawings and technical information regarding your specific microSYSTEM® building.
Yes. Our roof system is designed for 30 lbs per square foot of load. This includes almost all of the United States, excluding Alaska and the northern tip of Maine. With this said, we recommend you verify the local snow conditions of your area before ordering.
Assuming that you take the required precautions needed on your end. While the basic structure was designed to withstand wind forces of over 100 mph it is critical that it is placed above the possible flood line and set upon a proper foundation, both of which are the responsibility of the owner.

There are seven main things that you will need to do.
1. Determine which microSYSTEM® building fits your needs and what options you would like to include. We invite you to Build Your Own to help you in this process as well as to determine the overall basic costs.
2. Verify that you have a place to set your microSYSTEM® building as well as a means of getting it to its final location. A ten foot wide clear path is required for towing it into place and the ground must be firm enough and flat enough to drive across. If this is not possible a crane might be needed to set it. Crane costs and availability vary, so, if needed, please contact a local crane service prior to ordering.
3. Verify what, if any, permits are required. If a building permit is required the microSYSTEM® Customized Information Packet will assist in this effort with drawings and technical information regarding your specific microSYSTEM® building.
4. Prepare the foundation system for your microSYSTEM® building. Concrete piers, new or existing slabs are all possible solutions and the microSYSTEM® Customized Information Packet will assist you in determining the best choice for your application.
5. Prepare the utility hook-ups. There are a range of power, water and waste options and the microSYSTEM® Customized Information Packet will assist you in determining the best choice for your application. To help you further, when you order your microSYSTEM® building we ship you our Utility Hook-Up Module which places everything where it needs to be and prevents installation of a wrong fitting.
6. Set up delivery of your microSYSTEM® building. If planning to deliver it outside the 48 mainland states of the United States, let us know and we will coordinate as possible to assist you in this. Please inform us prior to ordering if you plan to pursue this option.
7. Enjoy your microSYSTEM® building for years to come.
